(
Marksman's Rifle - model 700 conversion )

 |
| |
| Due to the popularity
of the M700 series rifle and the budget contraints of modern times,
the MR-700 rifle system has been introduced. Serious shooters experienced
with the M700 realize the rifle has some serious problem areas, hence
the substantial aftermarket upgrades available for the rifle. The
MR-700 rifle offers a host of options and addresses most known problem
areas of the M700 at a cost far below that of the MR-30PG. |
| |
| The stock of
the MR-700 rifle is an MR-30PG aluminum style stock designed to accept
the M-700 barreled action. The stock needs no separate floor plate
assembly, thus it eliminates the torque setting loss often encountered
with the light duty factory 700 floor plate. |
| |
|
The D&L
aluminum stock effectively sleeves the M700 action and provides
more rigidity to the action. This is especially important when using
700 actions cut for a magazine.
|
| |
| Detachable and
internal box magazines on the M700 have been a repeated source of
reliability trouble for the M700. The D&L aluminum stock eliminates
this problem by converting the standard M700 to the shoot-one load-one
MR-700 system of operation. The simpicity of doing the same thing
every time has proven more effective than trying to load single rounds
off the top of an unstable magazine follower. It is certainly much
quicker than operating with a magazine-fed rifle that is plagued with
the bolt over base malfunction, or stoppages caused by nose diving
cartridges. The D&L aluminum stock holds cartridges near the ejection
port for rapid follow-up shot capability. Well practiced shooters
have outperformed semi auto shooters in rapid precision fire with
this system. |
| |
| The problematic
M700 bolt stop is also replaced with a heavy duty unit on the MR-700. |
| |
| The aluminum
stock fitted MR-700 also provides the shooter with three-point ground
contact which results in superb stability. This allows for very precise
shooting, and a self-standing rifle in long term situations. The folding
front bipod is rigidly attached instead of being clamped on a fragile
sling stud. The threaded rear monopod allows for fine elevation adjustment
of the rifle from two different monopod positions (under the rear
of the stock, or from the underside of the pistol grip). The butt
stock is fully adjustable for length of pull, and the cheek piece
adjusts to a comfortable height as well. The rubber recoil pad was
specifically selected for contour and comfort. It is very effective
for positioning the rifle and absorbing recoil. |
| |
| This pistol grip
of the aluminum stock features a 1911 auto pistol angle and profile.
The grip accepts 1911 pistol stocks, and allows for ambidextrous use. |
| |
| The forearm is
flat-bottomed to allow for stable support, as well as having multiple
rigid mounting locations for the bipod. The forearm also features
multiple drain holes for use in wet environments. A barrel bedding
block is topside on the long action stock in case an extra heavy barrel
is used. (Not required for common factory contour barrels.) |
| |
| The M700's standard
fire control group continues to be an area of concern. Experienced
M700 shooters are probably aware of unintentional discharges when
clicking the safety off or when quickly closing the bolt. It is not
uncommon for factory rifles to be delivered with trigger pull weights
over 9 lbs. This is obviously not conducive to precision shooting.
The M700 manufacturer does not authorize factory trigger group adjustments
outside the factory which leaves the precision shooter in a difficult
position. Often times the shooter or after market shop will adjust
the factory trigger outside of the factory's approval. It is also
common for shooters to disable the factory safety lever to avoid lever
related problems. Neither of these ideas are recommended. |
| |
| The MR-700 solution
to the factory fire control group is to replace the entire unit with
a group authorized for tactical use and properly adjusted for safe
and effective operation. (Keep in mind that any changes in a factory
firearm may void the warranty, and make sure your department or unit
authorizes changes.) The MR-700 trigger group is adjusted to feature
safe amounts of sear contact and a 3-4 lb. trigger pull weight. The
problematic and snag-prone safety lever does not accompany the new
fire control group. The safety lever on the MR-700 and MR-30PG rifles
is the bolt handle. A bolt handle in the fully raised position blocks
the striker from forward movement, a much safer proposition than trying
to block the trigger group with a pivoting lever. All operators are
responsible for the safe use of their equipment; do not chamber a
round and close the bolt unless it is safe to fire and you are prepared
to do so. All firearms are thoroughly test fired for safety, accuracy,
and function before leaving D&L Sports Inc.. It is the responsibility
of all gun owner/operators to assure their equipment is routinely
inspected for safety and function by a professional armorer's program.

| |
| The MR-700 rifle
comes with an integral picatinny rail for optic mounting on top of
the action block. Twenty M.O.A. forward slant is built into the rail
to allow for close to long range dial-in of the rifle. Top quality
optics and rings are available, including the NXS extreme scope with
the D&L tactical illuminated reticle and speed turret. |
| |
| Two additional
picatinny rails are securely mounted on the left and right sides of
the forearm to allow for white light or other specialty attachments. |
| |
| An optional carry
handle/scope protector is also available and highly recommended for
the MR-700 rifle. |
